Troubleshooting
"It's not working?" — calm, specific fixes for the problems that come up most, grouped by what you're trying to do.
A product won't scan at the till
Start with the simplest explanation: the product may not actually have a barcode saved on it. Open the product in Products & variants and check its barcode field — for a variant product, remember each variant can have its own barcode. If the barcode is missing, generate or enter one and try again. If it's present but still won't scan, use the POS's on-screen manual search instead of the scanner to rule out a hardware issue (see Printers, scanner & scale), and try re-printing the barcode label at a larger size if it looks faded or too small to read.
A sale won't let me take a batch-tracked item
This is almost always by design, not a bug: the batch is expired. MiniMart blocks expired batches from being sold rather than allowing a cashier to override it at the till. Open Stock, low stock & batches's Batches & Expiry screen, filter to "Expired," and either write the stock off as a deliberate adjustment (see Adjustments, counts & transfers) or confirm a newer, unexpired batch of the same product exists and has stock.
I can't see Purchasing or Reports in the sidebar
Two different things cause this, and it helps to know which: either your signed-in role lacks the permission for that section (ask your store's Admin to check Staff & roles), or your store's subscription plan doesn't include that module at all, in which case no role in your store can see it until the plan is upgraded. A store Admin can tell which it is — if the Admin role itself can't see it either, it's the plan; if the Admin can see it but you can't, it's your role's permissions.
A shift won't close, or shows a variance
A variance means the cash actually counted in the drawer doesn't match what the system expects based on sales, cash-ins and cash-outs recorded during the shift. Before assuming something's wrong with the software: recount the drawer by hand, and check whether a cash-in or cash-out (e.g. change float added, petty cash taken out) happened during the shift without being recorded. See Shifts & cash drawer for how X and Z reports break down what the system expects.
Printing does nothing when I try to print a receipt
Receipt printing (and opening the cash drawer) goes through a small local print agent, not the browser, so the most common cause is that no print agent is configured or it isn't running. Check Printers, scanner & scale for how to set one up. Without a print agent configured, MiniMart falls back to your browser's own print dialog, which will still work for a receipt but won't be able to pulse a cash drawer open.
The cash drawer won't open
The drawer is pulsed open by the print agent when a receipt prints or when you use an explicit "Open drawer" action — never directly by the browser. If the drawer stays shut, confirm the print agent is running and the drawer is wired to the printer it's paired with, rather than looking for a browser-side setting; see Printers, scanner & scale.
A sale seems stuck, or the till won't respond
MiniMart expects a working connection to your server — most actions, and any card or UPI payment in particular, need to reach the server to complete. If the till seems stuck mid-sale, check your network connection first before assuming something else is wrong. Don't repeatedly tap "Pay" while unsure whether the first attempt went through; wait for a clear success or failure response, then check Sales history to confirm whether the sale actually posted before retrying.
I forgot my password
Use the self-service "Forgot password" link on the sign-in screen — it sends a reset link to the email on your staff account. If that email no longer works or you don't receive the link, ask your store's Admin to reset it for you from Staff & roles.
A staff member is locked out of a branch
Staff access to a branch is explicit, not automatic — check that the staff member's account actually has that branch assigned in Staff & roles. A staff member who was only ever set up for one branch won't be able to switch into another until an Admin adds it to their account.
A report shows numbers that don't look right
Check the date range and the selected branch first — both narrow what a report includes, and it's easy to misread last week's filtered total as today's. If the numbers still look wrong after that, compare the same figure on two related screens (e.g. a sales total on Dashboard tour against the same range in Reports & analytics) before assuming either one is broken.
A new store's signup is stuck on "pending"
This is platform-level, not a store-side problem: if the platform operator has turned on "require manual approval after signup" (Global settings → App), every new store sits pending until an operator approves it in the superadmin console. See Stores, subscriptions & invoices — this is one for the platform operator to resolve, not something the store itself can fix.
