FAQ
Short answers to the questions shop owners — and platform operators — ask most. Each on-page heading below is clickable from the table of contents on the right.
Can I run more than one branch?
Yes — MiniMart is built multi-branch from the ground up. Your product catalog, customers and staff accounts are shared across every branch of your store; only stock levels, prices (if you choose to override them) and counters are specific to a branch. See Multi-branch for how to add one and how the branch switcher works.
What happens if a product's batch expires?
An expired batch is blocked from sale automatically — the POS will not let a cashier ring it up, it's not just a warning they can click past. The dashboard and Stock, low stock & batches both surface batches expiring within 30 days so you can act (sell down, discount, or write off) before that happens.
Can a customer buy on credit?
Yes — a customer can be given a credit limit and allowed to buy "on account," and you can track what they owe and collect payment later. See Customers & credit and Customer payments.
What's the difference between a role and a permission?
A permission is one specific thing a person can or can't do (e.g. "process a refund"). A role is a named bundle of permissions (e.g. Cashier, Manager) you assign to a staff member so you're not ticking the same boxes for every new hire. See Staff & roles and the Glossary.
Does MiniMart work without internet?
MiniMart is an online, connected product — most screens assume you have a working connection to your server, and card/UPI payments always need one to actually authorize. If you lose connectivity briefly at the till, treat it the same as any other outage: wait for the connection to come back before completing the sale, rather than assuming it will be queued and retried automatically.
How do I move stock between branches?
Create a stock transfer from the sending branch, dispatch it, and receive it at the destination branch — stock leaves one branch's count and lands in the other's once received. See Adjustments, counts & transfers.
Can I change my store's currency later?
Yes, currency is managed at store level in your own Settings and can be changed if your business needs it to — but be deliberate about it, since it affects how every price and report in your store is displayed going forward. See Store profile & plan.
Who can see the superadmin console?
Only the person or company operating the MiniMart platform itself — a dedicated superadmin account with no store and no branch. An ordinary store owner or staff member, however senior their role, never sees it and only ever has access to their own store's data. See The control plane.
What's a module vs a permission?
A module is a whole feature area (Purchasing, Reports, Expenses) that's unlocked or not for your entire store, based on your subscription plan — if your plan doesn't include it, the section doesn't appear in your sidebar at all. A permission decides which of your own staff can use a feature your store already has. See Packages, plans & gateways and Staff & roles.
Can I customize a receipt?
Receipt behaviour is driven by your store's numbering and hardware setup — see Printers, scanner & scale for what a receipt prints through, and Store profile & plan for the details (store name, address) that appear on it.
How are taxes calculated?
Every product belongs to a tax group made up of one or more tax components with their own rates, and whether a price is tax-inclusive or tax-exclusive is set per tax group. Products and categories can override the default group, and the rate that applied at the time of sale is what's used for that sale — changing a rate later doesn't retroactively alter past sales. See Tax setup.
Can a store change its own subscription plan?
A store can usually upgrade or downgrade from its own Settings; if it pays by an offline method rather than a gateway, that request instead goes into the platform operator's approval queue. See Stores, subscriptions & invoices.
What happens to a product with variants, like size or color?
You set up option groups (e.g. Size, Color) once on a product, and MiniMart generates the individual variants — each with its own SKU, price and stock. See Products & variants.
